3 peace lashkar men, 8 militants killed in Tirah operation


At least three volunteers of a peace lashkar and eight militants were killed in clashes in Tirah Valley of Khyber Agency on Friday. Officials said security forces, with help of the peace lashkar, initiated a crackdown against militants in the area. But militants offered stiff resistance and shot dead three volunteers and injured five personnel of the security forces. Later, the security forces called in helicopter gunships and targeted militant hideouts and compounds. The officials said at least eight militants were killed and several of their dens had been demolished.
