A newly-wed woman suffered serious burns after she was allegedly torched by her in-laws for dowry in the Badami Bagh Police precincts on Thursday. The woman was identified as 20-year-old Sonia Urooj, a resident of Khokhar Road. Hospital sources said that the victim married Fayyaz Ahmed, a resident of the same area around a year ago. Sources said that Sonia, in her statement to doctors at Mayo Hospital, said that her in-laws used to taunt her for bringing less dowry.
