The whale shark, which was found dead on February 6 in the Gora Bari area of Karachi by the local fishermen, was brought to Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH) on Friday, where it will be reconstructed, mounted and displayed for general public as an icon of biodiversity of Pakistan.
The whale shark (Rhincodon typus) is the biggest fish in the world. It is a rare species and declared vulnerable as its population is decreasing at an alarming rate.
It was brought to Karachi Fish Harbor on February 7 and auctioned for Rs200,000.

Well they found it, brought it to shore and were monetarily rewarded.
It looks in good shape, no visible rot so it is not dead long.
Yeah, they killed it. No doubt.
I.e. it was found dead, on their deck, 2 days after they caught it.
