Talk about girl power! Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Taylor Swift and Lady Gaga top the list of 2012 Kid’s Choice Awards nominees, announced by Nickelodeon. Selena and Katy lead the pack with three nominations each, (Taylor and Gaga have two) and on March 31, the four girls will vie for a coveted blimp in the category of Favourite Female Singer. ‘The Muppets’ scored two chances to win for Favourite Movie and Favourite Movie Actress (Amy Adams). The ‘Twilight’ franchise is up for Favourite Book and Favourite Movie Actress (Kristen Stewart). Tim Allen earned his first ever recognition in the category of “favourite TV actor,” telling ET exclusively he “couldn’t be more thrilled.” “It’s like getting a phone call from an old friend. To be recognised by kids is a huge thing. To be recognised by your own kids is nearly impossible!” ‘Harry Potter’ continues its legacy, scoring four nominations including Favourite Movie, Favourite Movie Actor for Daniel Radcliffe and Favourite Movie Actress for Emma Watson. Joining them in the movie category are a bunch of little blue creatures otherwise known as ‘The Smurfs’ with three nominations (yes, Katy Perry got a nom for her voice-over) and ‘Kung Fu Panda’ also with three noms. Oddly enough, Justin Bieber and the man who brought on Bieber Fever, Usher, are against each other for Favourite Male Singer.
‘American Idol’ grabs its eighth nomination for Favourite Reality Show up against ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’, ‘America’s Got Talent’ and ‘Wipeout’.
Will Smith will host the Nickelodeon’s 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards to be handed out March 31 in Los Angeles.
