Federal interior minister Rehman Malik has said that a Pakistani judicial commission would visit India in March to investigate ‘Mumbai attacks’.
Talking to media after his talks with Pakistan’s High Commissioner to India, Shahid Malik, the interior minister said that the visit of judicial commission was long overdue, and had finally been cleared for an investigative visit.
He informed that the Judicial commission would tour India from 12th March -22nd March 2012, and said that he had also directed Pakistan’s commissioner to ensure a quick reply from Indian side as well, regarding the issue.
The interior minister also informed that an understanding over issues like facilitating visa services for business community, senior citizens, relatives and tourists, medical personnel among others had been reached during the meeting between home secretaries of both countries, and these issues would be finalized in meeting of interior ministers of both countries.
Rehman Malik declared his meeting with Iranian President as quite productive, and said that the issue of illegal border crossings of two countries was also deliberated, with various alternatives discussed to stem the proliferation.
Announcing other issues tackled in tri-partite talks, he also informed that a tripartite meeting of interior ministers of Pakistan-Iran-Afghanistan would also be held, during which a conducive policy for monitoring and controlling illegal cross-border movement would also be evolved.
Replying to a question, Rehman Malik said that Pakistan had strong commitments to install and make operational, an effective bio-metric system at Pak-Afghan border areas, hoping to inaugurate one at earliest.
He hoped that Afghan President Hamid Karzai would also take practical measures regarding the issue and inaugurate a latest biometric system at his borders.
“Pakistan would continue to take practical measures to ensure conducive peace and harmony in the region”, he assured.
The interior minister also expressed Pakistan’s keen desire for sooner repatriation of massive, unregistered Afghan refugees, who would be absolved of visa requirements if and when they desired to return to their homeland.
Meanwhile, Rehman Malik has also met the former head of ICC (International Cricket Council) Ahsan Mani, and deliberated over such issues like reinstatement of Pakistani Cricket team in International Cricket circuit, resumption of Pak-India cricket matches, over strong demand of cricket lovers to see traditional rivals pitted against each other.
Rehman Malik cited an earlier desire of Indian trade minister, regarding the issue as well, and while lauding Ahsan Mani’s international repute hoped that Ahsan would play his due part in resumption of Pak-India matches.
Replying to a question in this regard, the interior minister welcomed the Bangladesh cricket team to visit Pakistan without any compunctions, amid fool-roof security; while also urging for fool proof security measures for Pakistani cricket team, currently touring Bangladesh.
He also hoped for resumption of international matches in Pakistan with frequent visits by foreign teams.
