The CDGL food department has fined Rs 162,500 to various city hotels, restaurants and marriage halls owing to unhygienic food items and lack of cleanliness. This joint action was taken by the food department during the month of January, during which, 1,349 food samples were collected and sent to the laboratory for further checking. In the report submitted to DCO Lahore it has been told that food checking in the city was carried out on a regular basis. DCO Lahore Ahed Cheema has issued further instructions and ordered a strict check on food items as it is the foremost duty of the CDGL to provide hygienic food. He further said that the violators should be subjected according to law and heavy fines and punishments should be given to them accordingly.
