IHC serves notices on interior, foreign secretaries

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) on Wednesday issued notices to the secretary interior, foreign secretary and others on a petition filed by father of an accused of murder of federal minister for minorities Shahbaz Bhatti. A single-member bench comprising Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan heard the petition filed by Mukhtar Ahmad Sindhu through his counsel Aftab Ahmad Bajwa Advocate. The counsel stated that the son of his client namely Zia-ur-Rehman had work residence permit issued by the government of China, and he often used to travel abroad and Dubai. On January 2, 2012, Zia travelled from Lahore to Dubai for some business engagement but he was apprehended by Dubai authorities on instructions of Pakistani government for his being involved in a case registered under section 302/34 PPC at police station Industrial area against the murder of Shahbaz Bhatti. The petitioner cited chairman joint investigation team of the case, SHO industrial area police station, secretary interior, foreign secretary, FIA DG, Inspector General Police (IGP), Islamabad, and two others as respondents. The counsel submitted the son of his client was innocent and he was falsely implicated in the murder of Bhatti. He petitioner prayed to the court to direct the government to withdraw red warrants issued against his son.
