In the wake of uncontrolled drug deaths in the province, the Punjab Assembly on Wednesday unanimously passed a resolution for legislation to establish a provincial drug regulatory authority.
The resolution asked the federal government to do legislation accordingly. It is pertinent to mention here that the other three provinces have already passed the resolution for setting up drug regulatory authority in their respective provinces.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan People’s Party-led opposition members protested non-release of development funds by the government, chanting slogans of “shame, shame” before walking out of the assembly session.
Leader of the Opposition in the House, PPP’s Raja Riaz said Provincial Law Minister Rana Sana Ullah had held out assurance for release of funds but “he did not honour his pledges”.
