Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif on Tuesday said that justice, merit and transparency were the sole criterion of the Punjab government, while on the other hand, loot and plunder was rampant and billions and trillions of rupees were being pillaged by the central government. Addressing the audience at the computerised balloting for the selection of 5,000 youth in the second phase of Khadim-e-Punjab Yellow Cab Scheme at the Alhamra Arts Council, the CM said that balloting for Yellow Cab Scheme was being held in a highly transparent manner which would result in provision of job opportunities for the deserving, low-income and educated youth as well as availability of excellent transport facilities for the masses.
He said further that the Punjab government was committed to the service of people. He said that the Yellow Cab Scheme was completely interest-free and the youth were being given these vehicles at less than the market price on easy instalments of five years. At another occasion the CM presided over a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat which reviewed the pace of progress on the agreements signed between the Punjab government and Turkey for cooperation in energy, transport, solid waste management, construction and other sectors.
Secretaries of various departments and the Lahore Division commissioner informed the meeting about their visits to Turkey and the pace of progress on the joint ventures between Turkey and Punjab. The participants also gave their proposals regarding these projects.
It was agreed that the committee would meet on a weekly basis to review the pace of progress while the CM would preside over a meeting for this purpose on a monthly basis. The meeting was attended by provincial ministers, the Planning & Development Commission chairman, secretaries of various departments, commissioner and the DCO Lahore and some other officers concerned.
