The Chanan Development Association (CDA) collaborated with the Global Fund for Children, British Council and Punjab University’s Department of Gender Studies to organise an interactive dialogue with parliamentarians on forced child marriages. The CDA theatre group addressed this social issue by performing a play on forced marriages, with special emphasis laid on gender discrimination.
A panel discussion took place in which panellists shared their experiences related to child marriages and appreciated the efforts of the CDA for raising the voices of oppressed women who had suffered from domestic violence and gender discrimination. They said it was imperative to implement laws that would safeguard women from such discriminatory practices.
