Pakistan changed its visa policy for foreign nationals on Monday, under which they will have to go to their countries of origin for visa renewal and extension. Talking to journalists, Interior Minister Senator Rehman Malik said that people staying in Pakistan after expiry of visa must renew it by March 15. He said that a committee was formed with the interior additional secretary in the chair to deal with the issue.

  1. there are millions of illegal foreigners living in this country. many of them are involved in criminal activities. they need to be kicked out

No problem in keeping legal residents infact they are welcome

  2. Pakistan is choosing to further isolate itself, taking itself further outside the society of civilized nations. Which other countries do this? Belarus? Zimbabwe? Goodbye foreign investments! Hello spiral of economic decline. Another brilliant RM move.

    • If this is really implemented, it is a step in the rigtht direction. As far as the so called isolation is concerned, we are better off without such people coming to us!

  3. Can someone explain this policy to me?

If I have a valid visa, what do I do?
Do I read correctly that when my visa expires, I have to return to my home country to renew it?

The newspaper reports are too vague to understand the effect of this ruling.

  4. What about those wives of pakistani nationals do they have to go about this thing? We don't like to get Pakistani Passports because we can not own properties from Philippines if we are not having Filipino passports.

  5. Hi to All effected Visa Holders,

It is a very unclear decision and like all other Pakistani Interior Minister Decisions which is un realistic.

He and his followers (official of Interior Ministry Government of Pakistan) even did not think about those working visa holders who is working here since several years and because of their contracts with their employers and just made the decision in effect after a short meeting in Ministry of Interior.

On the other hand Yesterday I met an agent for acquiring extension in my visit visa and he promised me that he will do it for Rs.25000 (One Year Visa Extension) on 17/March/2012.

So now I think we all should understood that banned on visa extensions is just for making money because its the final year of Government.

    Thanks
