SAFTA experts committee reviews progress to boost regional trade

South Asian Free Trade Area (SAFTA) committee of Expert (COE) has reviewed the progress of matters relating to Trade in Services under SAFTA in a bid to boost regional trade.
The seventh meeting of SAFTA committee of Expert (COE) held here on Wednesday to discuss intra regional trade of SAARC member countries.
In the meeting the matters relating to Trade in Services under SAFTA, Nontariff Measures, intra SAARC trade flows and specific matters related to Least Developed Countries (LDC) progress reviewed.
The meeting deliberated the various dimensions of trade agenda of SAFTA members. The meeting started with consideration of adoption of the agenda and the brief statements by the representatives of the SAARC secretariat.
The meeting reviewed the progress in implementations of trade liberalization progrmme of the member states. The delegates from each country briefed the meeting about the latest position in this regard.
The status of issuance of revised sensitive list by the member countries was also included in the agenda of today’s meeting. It was emphasized in the previous meeting that all member states may issue necessary notification for revised sensitive list in phase 2 to bring down the number of products in their sensitive list.
The meeting reviewed the progress in this regard and all member states updated about their development.
