The chief organiser for Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N)’s Karachi division, Hafizuddin announced on Monday that he is joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e Insaf (PTI). He was addressing a press conference in the presence of PTI Chairman Imran Khan and party leader Makhdoom Javed Hashmi.
Besides, Hafizuddin, Dr Ajmal Kazmi, Liaqat Lodhi and Babar Abbasi also joined PTI.
Talking to media on the occasion, the PTI chief criticised Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and said the country’s chief executive committed contempt of court only to save President Asif Ali Zardari’s Rs 5 billion in Swiss banks. “He has no moral justification to continue serving as the prime minister.” he added
He said his party will stand by the judgement of the Supreme Court and Gilani must resign so that a new prime minister can write a letter to the Swiss authorities asking them to reopen money laundering cases against Zardari.
Replying to a question, Khan said his party will not form election alliances with any political party and run solo in the general elections.
Talking about his interaction with Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders, Khan said it was not a formal meeting and he met them at a wedding.
Hashmi said on the occasion said he had suggested the name for the alliance Difa-e Pakistan Council.
“I have no hesitation in going to the Difa-e Pakistan Council’s rally and expressing the point of view of my party,” he added.
