The Punjab health department has declared five districts including Rawalpindi and Lahore dangerous for dengue virus this year. The directives inscribed with ‘emergency and the most top priority’ have been sent to the commissioners, DCOs and EDOs of Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Faisalabad and Gujranwala. The notification says that five districts are vulnerable to dengue virus as the presence of dengue reproduction has been detected in these areas. The health department has warned the district authorities that this year dengue could be more fatal as compared to the last year, so timely measures are needed to taken immediately.
The department fears that children could be the victim of the virus. However, 15 machines have been upgraded for spray and duties have also been assigned to the newly-appointed staff so that spray could be launched after rains. The EDO health, Rawalpindi, has said that all the tyre shops, parks, colleges and schools are being registered. The health department has also directed the districts to provide certain medicines to the victims to handle the situation in emergency.
SHO transferred: The Station House Officer (SHO) of Shahzad Town Mohammad Hussain Laasi has been transferred to Sahala Police Station. Sub-inspector Naeem-ul-din Sheikh has also been SHO of Shahzad Town while the Sahala Police Station SHO has been transferred to Rescue 15.
Shops demolished for non-payment of forced tax: residents: Residents have alleged that the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has demolished three shops taking two youngsters into custody for not paying forced tax in the green belt of sector E11/2. CDA’s Enforcement Department bulldozed these shops in the vicinity of Golra police station. The inhabitants have launched protest campaign against what they called unlawful bulldozing and alleged CDA of taking a huge amount of money as forced tax, monthly.
Talking to Online, victims said that they would not let the CDA force them extort money from them. According to them, CDA wanted to show the green belt as a part of the sector for more forced tax. CDA had not paid the compensation money to the landowners of the area so far.
