Subedar ® Mehar Khan, father of Brigadier Ali Khan, who has been arrested for alleged links with Hizb-ul-Tehrir, has said that he has fears that his son will be killed like other missing persons.
Brig Ali Khan is facing court martial.
Mehar has expressed grave concern about the fate of his son in a letter to the Secretary Defence. He said that his son is under the unlawful custody of the Army. He said that his son could be killed like those 4 persons who were killed under the custody of the security agencies.
Brig Ali, according to his father, has been in the Army’s custody since May 6.
Mehar Khan added that he had been wishing his son to be seen as he had been suffering from a disease which had made him bed stricken in Shaikh Zayed Hospital Lahore.
He asked the Secretary Defence to intervene in the matter and help his son to get rid of that unlawful custody. He said that his son is innocent.
He was taken into custody as he raised some logical questions about the US May 2nd raid which killed Osama bin Laden. His son, as he said, was transferred to Sialkot to be tried under Intelligence custody.
“My son has never served in Sialkot during his service. He is transferred to Sialkot to deprive him of legal and physical facilities. He was to retire last year, but his retirement is also delayed intentionally”, he said.

  1. Sadly his father may well be right… I speak as a colleague and friend of Saleem Shahzad, an independent Pakistani journalist tortured to death for merely writing on security issues… One cannot assume the state will provide a safe environment for detainees… their record is pretty abysmal of late… a short time in custody, suddenly previously healthy people are in serious decline… next thing we hear they end up dead!!!
