The issue of regularisation of 700 senior doctors is once again, as the Punjab Regulations Department and the regulations secretary staff informed doctors that the file has unfortunately been misplaced, Pakistan Today has learnt. The meeting of the service rules committee to amend the service rules for regularisation of 700 senior doctors, including senior registrars and district specialists, was held on January 28 and the summary was to be sent to the CM for a supplementary approval of the main case, as the CM had already approved their regularisation in 2009 and the matter was pending with the health and regulations department for two years but the file has again been misplaced.
The Punjab Post-Graduate Doctors Association demanded the CM to get the issue resolved and get the 700 doctors regularised. A Punjab Health Department spokesman, taking notice of the announcement of strike by the Young Doctors Association (YDA) on the issue of PIC medicines, reminded them that the strike was a clear violation of orders of the Supreme Court (SC). He said that according to the orders, it was mandatory on all doctors and owners of pharmaceutical firms to extend complete cooperation in investigation being carried out regarding PIC medicines.
