Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Munawar Hassan on Friday said the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) government was following the policies of former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, as two regimes had victimised the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan to get US support and money. Addressing the Islami Jamiat-e-Tulba (IJT) – JI’s student wing – on its 59th annual congregation at Government College, Gujranwala, Hassan said that corruption and maladministration were the added “gifts” for the nation by the government of President Asif Ali Zardari.
He said the PPP was exploiting the people in the name of democracy, while in Punjab there was “one-man show” and the chief minister alone had become the centre of power. Hassan said that targeted killings had become part of the culture in Sindh, while abductions and murders were rampant in Balochistan. He said the US drones were killing innocent Pakistanis but the “shameless rulers” never hesitated to handover Pakistanis to US.
