Amidst fuelling political polarisation and judicial activism, the nationalist Awami National Party (ANP) is prone to internal rifts as its former provincial president Begum Nasim Wali Khan has severely criticised the party’s high command for not giving her party ticket for Senate elections.
“No one should consider me weak. I am able to resist and lead the party workers, who are getting disheartened due to the wrong policies of party leaders,” she said while talking to reporters on Friday. She said that certain elements within the party were reluctant to give her an active role, but a majority of party workers supported her for a Senate seat.
