Muhammad Imtiaz, 45, a worker from Multan, died under mysterious circumstances in Bhaati Gate Area on Friday. Sources said that Imtiaz worked in a local hotel. On Friday, hotel workers found Imtiaz unconscious and rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. Hospital sources said Imtiaz had died after consuming poisonous food. Police sent the body to the morgue for autopsy and started investigations.
Accident: An over-speeding car ran over Okara resident Khursheed in the Shadman Police Area on Friday. Police said she was a resident of Nishter Colony and was trying to cross Jail Road when a vehicle rammed into her. Khursheed was seriously injured and taken to a nearby hospital where she died. Meanwhile, bystanders caught the car driver, Faizan, and handed him over to police. Police handed over the deceased’s body to her family after completing legal formalities.
PRISONER EXCHANGE: Indian authorities handed over five prisoners, who had mistakenly crossed the border, to Pakistan Rangers at Wagha border on Friday. Officials informed three prisoners belonged to Sindh while two were from Punjab. Three of the released detainees had already completed their sentences and the trials of two others were in process in Indian courts. The prisoners were released under an agreement signed by the two countries. Rangers officials later on handed over four released prisoners to an Edhi official in order to send them to their respective places.
Colonel’s murders arrested: Investigation Police of Defence A police station arrested five men accused of involvement in the murder of a retired colonel on Friday. The accused, Saif-ur-Rehman, Shaukat, Ijaz, Nawaz and Aslam, were arrested from Mian Chanoo. Police said that the accused had murdered Colonel (r) Muhammad Sarwar during a robbery bid.
