Ashiyana housing scheme provides better residential facilities than elite housing societies, Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif said on Friday. Addressing a function to distribute house keys to families in Ashiyana Housing Scheme at Saroba Atari, Shahbaz said houses equipped with the latest residential facilities had been constructed in Ashiyana housing scheme and were being given to common people to transform Pakistan. He said modern air-conditioned buses had become operational on city roads and more buses were being imported, which would be plied in Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur and other cities of the province. He said that work had also been started on the project of bus rapid transit system with the collaboration of Turkish companies.
Earlier, Chairman Punjab Land Development Company Sheikh Allauddin said that Ashiyana housing project was being implemented successfully due to cooperation and the interest being taken by Shahbaz Sharif. He said that the extension project at Saroba Atari had started.
Provincial Minister for Auqaf Haji Ehsanuddin Qureshi, Punjab Land Development Company Chairman and Member Provincial Assembly Sheikh Allauddin, members National and Provincial Assembly, Vice Chairman Punjab Educational Endowment Fund Dr Amjad Saqib and a large number of people were present on the occasion.
