Army officials hand over rape suspect to police

Army officials have handed over an accused sweeper, who was taken from the police station by force, to the Misri Shah Investigation police for further investigation on Friday. Local police has presented the accused before a local magistrate and taken him under physical remand for four days. Pakistan Today has also learnt that the case registered against approximately 50 personnel of Pakistan Army on kidnapping a police official and taking away the accused person has also been shut. When he was contacted SSP Investigation Abdul Razzaq Cheema confirmed the report and in reply to a query said that the case against the army personnel is approaching culmination as they had returned everything which was taken away. However, he said that FIR would take its legal course before he is finally discharged. It is worth mentioning here that on Wednesday around 50 personnel of Army had taken away an accused sweeper under investigation for a rape case and an investigation officer from Misri Shah police station by force. Lahore Police registered a case and recorded their protest with the high command of Pak Army after which the issue was resolved.
