An anti-terrorism court (ATC) indicted on Friday the remaining three accused out of 12 in the Shershah scrap market murders case. The three men, Lal Muhammad Magsi, Shafi Muhammad Magsi and Aslam Parvez, were produced before the court of Judge Bashir Ahmed Khoso by the jail authorities while the charge-sheet was read out by presiding officer of the ATC-I. According to the charge-sheet, the three accused along with their co-accused in December 2010 carried out an attack at the Shershah scrap market, killing 13 shopkeepers and injuring many.
All the accused, however, pleaded not guilty after which the court ordered the special public prosecutor to call witnesses and proceed with the trial. The court later adjourned the proceedings. On January 2011, ATC Administrator Judge Sajjad Ali Shah had acquitted nine men in case – Ijaz, Iqbal, Mohammad Akbar, Asghar Ali, Mohammad Tufail, Abdul Rasheed, Tehseen, Jauhar and Abid; all Magsi by caste and close relatives of each other – as the complainant of the case was unable to identify them.
