A day-long Scheduled Caste Graveyard Cleaning Day was organised the Pakistan Hindu Seva (PHS) on Thursday in the historical graveyard adjacent to the Gujjar Hindu Cremation Ground in the Old Golimar area of Lyari Town. Over 100 volunteers participated in the activity and cleaned the graveyard, which is one of the oldest graveyards in the city for the scheduled caste Hindus.
PHS President Sanjesh said, “We recently observed that most pathways of the centuries-old graveyard were covered with garbage, bushes and drain water, but no government authority representing the religious minority has taken notice of the issue. So, we arranged the graveyard cleaning activity on self-help basis.”
He said it was also observed that there are no streetlights installed in the vicinity, which creates many problems for the community, and during the recent rainfall, many graves have been destroyed and the condition of the cemetery has further deteriorated. The cleaning day was arranged in collaboration with the Maharishi Naval Mandal (MNM) who has already been working hard to improve the condition of the graveyard. Volunteers of the PHS and the MNM enthusiastically worked together for effectively cleaning the graveyard. The PHS urged the whole community to “leave the caste system behind and work together for improving the quality of life of the entire community, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, colour or the ability to pay.”

  1. It was a very nice effort by Pakistan Hindu Seva. PHS is already working for the betterment of Scheduled Caste community of majority populated of minority Hindus in Pakistan. This step of PHS is an admirable step which united Hindus and diminished discrimination. I wish best of luck to PHS and MNM for their missions in future.
