The Supreme Court (SC) has ordered the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) to produce all the missing persons believed to be in illegal custody, by today or face action, a private TV channel reported on Friday.
The SC, in its last order, had categorically told the ISI’s counsel Raja Irshad to produce all those ‘missing people’ who were arrested and have been kept under illegal detention.
Irshad responded to the court by saying that he is unable to escort the detained people as some of them are not in good health. However, the court rejected his plea by signifying that the relatives of the missing persons do not have an issue with the situation and will appreciate their presence in the court.
The Supreme Court reiterated that the law has all the power to summon anyone to appear before the court as no one in Pakistan is considered above the law.

  1. This is a laudable decision by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. This will help ISI higher ups to clean up the rouge elements within the organisation.

This is certainly not the policy of sate institutions, ISI being one, to go to extreme and by doing so cause death.

If certain individuals have gone beyond limits in extracting valid and reliable information from the detainees so as to cause their death they have to be prosecuted.

  2. In the case of SC seeking from ISI a famous sage Rewgari had to said; Stupidity is to look for something in a place where untutored imagination expects to find it. It is, infact everywhere that you can extract it.-
