The Qatari minister for petroleum, Sheikh Ali bin Abdullah Thani-Al Thani, who came to Pakistan on a private hunting visit, was robbed in Turbat on Thursday, sources said. Sources said the minister was looted in his camp set up in Makran desert where he had come to hunt migratory birds. They said the robbers had looted Rs 60 million in cash and also made away with expensive watches. Levies sources said they were conducting an operation to arrest the culprits after registering a case. The looted items included expensive watches. Per reports, the Qatari minister is encamped along with hundreds of his staff in Kolva area, 120kms east of Kechh district, for hunting.
The people who are believed to be among personal staff of the Qatari Shiekh stole the cash and some costly watches from his tent. After receiving the information, the district administration sent a team to the Qatari minister’s camp to inquire about the matter and investigate. When contacted, Mohammad Aslam Jamali, the commissioner of Makran, told this ascribe that the reports being broadcast on some TV channels that a Qatari minister was robed of cash, but they were false. He said the people from inside the camp had stolen the cash and other belongings and when the district administration wanted to investigate into the matter, a member of the royal family refused and said that his staff would investigate the matter on its own.
