Pakistan People’s Party Balochistan vice president and an old party stalwart, Ghulam Akbar Lasi, on Friday announced to resign from the basic membership of party to protest not being allotted a party ticket for the upcoming Senate elections. Talking to reporters on Friday, Lasi said being a sincere worker of the PPP, he had spent half of his life with the party and bore severe hardships. He said Benazir Bhutto had twice made him federal minister in recognition of his services and sacrifices for the party. To a query regarding joining the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, Lasi said he had not made ant decision so far. He said he had only resigned from the party and would decide his future course of action after some time.
Balochistan warns against illegal tinted glass windows: Balochistan Home Secretary Naseebullah Bazai held a press conference at the Balochistan Frontier Corps (FC) headquarters on Friday to condemn organisations that were falsely issuing permits for tinted glass windows on cars and smuggled vehicles. The home secretary said that except for special cases, no such permit had been issued under any circumstances. He requested all law enforcement agencies to take action against individuals with such vehicles. Bazai also stated that much progress had been made in missing persons’ cases, adding that 148 people were still reported missing, 59 had been recovered alive and 16 had been killed. Referring to the abduction of a foreign national doctor of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), he said he was regularly corresponding with ICRC officials and had offered to provide them with security, but they had refused on the grounds that security personnel were not included in their mandate.
