PAL remembers poet, journalist and TV anchor

Afzaal Shahid will always be remembered for his progressive ideas, said intellectual and poet, Tariq Khurshid, in a condolence reference arranged by Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL) for poet, journalist, columnist and TV anchor, Afzaal Shahid, under the title of “Yaad-e-Raftagan”. Intellectual Sabir Lodhi from Lahore was the chief guest. Mehmooda Ghazia also expressed her views. The programme was conducted y Ali Yasir. The participants prayed to Allah Almighty to grant eternal peace to his soul and patience to his siblings. Tariq Khurshid further said that Afzaal Shahid was a hardworking and sensitive person. He was a man of principles; he stood against the tyranny of Zia-ul-Haq’s martial law and faced imprisonment.
Talking to the participants, chief guest Sabir Lodhi commented that Afzaal Shahid was not only a good poet and writer but also a skilled and proficient manager. He had a very pleasant personality and was a lovable person. Mehmooda Ghazia said Afzaal Shahid had a multi-dimensional personality with a true heart and soul. “He spent a long period in different dailies, newspapers and magazines as a journalist. I have long lasting memories of his companionship, which is a worthy asset of my life,” Ghazia said.
