Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmed Khuhro said he did not stop National People’s Party (NPP)’s Masroor Jatoi from tabling his resolution. Khuhro said he had only advised Jatoi to present the resolution on any other day but Friday, because they were running out of time. The speaker said he had not imposed any ban on the committee constituted to ensure the legality of Jatoi’s resolution against the Muttahida Qaumi Movement’s 20th amendment. Speaking to the media at a local hotel on Thursday, Khuhro said he had not received any complaints from the committee’s chairman or any of its members.
“The committee has made the decision that the meetings of the committee would be held ‘on camera’ because nobody knows what is being discussed at the committee’s meetings,” he added The speaker said the committee was formed after consultation with the resolution mover, and it is carrying out its activities as per the rules. “It was the decision of the committee that the proceedings of its meetings are not made public, which is why we need to wait until the committee prepares its report,” he added.
