Pakistan International Human Rights Organisation has expressed its solidarity with the next of kins of those who have been martyred in the war on terror and demanded the government to give compensation to the affected families and provide free legal aid to them.
The Pakistan International Human Rights Organisation (PIHRO) organised a demonstration in front of the Parliament House on Thursday and said the war on terror is not Pakistan’s war and demanded of the government to revisit its foreign policy about it.
The demonstration was attended by a large number of relatives of those who have been martyred in the war on terror. They were carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against war on terror and in support of their demands.
Speaking on the occasion, president of PIHRO Habib Malik Orakzai said 35,000 Pakistanis have died in the war and the government was not extending any support to the affected people. He said due to lack of interest of the government, the affectees were still waiting for justice. He said the families of the martyrs have been denied basic necessities of life like jobs, health and education and the concerned government departments were ignoring them.
Orakzai said while US and other international powers were holding talks with the Taliban, the government should reconsider its policy. Others who spoke on the occasion expressed their sympathies with the bereaved families and appealed the Chief Justice of Pakistan to hold a free and fair trial of terrorism. They said the affectees were waiting for justice.
