Commando ditched by his own

The All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) adherents of former president General (retd) Pervez Musharraf have turned their backs on the self-exiled leader and decided to call a general meeting of the party workers to select their new leader.
Addressing a press conference at the Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Wednesday, the party’s central office bearers said that Musharraf is not the APML chairman but Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif, according to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) records, and the decision regarding the new party chairman will be made in a general workers session.
APML Central Vice President Dr Gholam Mujtaba along with Ayaz Farooq, Agha Ali Mosvi, Begum Ali Mosvi, Major Hashim among other APML leaders were present on the occasion. Speaking at the press briefing, Mujtaba said he has filed a petition in the Sindh High Court against the illegal and unconstitutional approach of the party.
“When the APML was registered with the ECP during 2010, its party chairman was Saif, president Mushir Alam and Mulazim Hussain the general secretary,” he said. “[However], the party workers were not informed about this and any member who raised his voice was fired.” The APML central vice president added: “If anyone fires me from the party, the general workers session will be called and those persons will be expelled from the party. The party workers will decide who will lead them.”
Mujtaba claimed he had received the “classified ECP information” during the recent days, but he did not disclose his sources. He said that over 15,000 activists of the APML will attend the general workers session and decide on the future leader of the party. “No agency is supporting me. I am struggling for the Pakistan [as envisioned by] Quaid-e-Azam and Allama Iqbal,” he said.
Replying to a question, Mujtaba claimed that Musharraf had announced returning to the country during January but could not return because the bureaucracy and the people of the country are now not with him. “He must have come to the country and faced the cases against him like a brave man.” Talking about the public meeting of APML in Karachi, he said the gathering was a picnic party rather than a political meeting.
