WAPDA hemmer HEC in Women’s Netball

As many as eight matches were decided on the second day of the National Netball Women Championship being held at LUMS on Tuesday. In the first match of the day, WAPDA beat HEC 18-17.. In the second match, Army downed Punjab by 14 goals.
Sindh and Khyber PK played a closely-contested match which was won by Sindh by two goals. Sindh scored 13 goals while KP managed 11. Lahore Grammar School defeated LUMS by four goals. LGS played well and slammed 10 goals while LUMS could manage six. In the fifth fixture, Islamabad routed FATA by nine goals with winning team scoring 11 and losers only two goals.
In the sixth match of the day, HEC edged out Balochistan 19-7 as HEC had 19 goals and Balochistan could make seven.
In the second last match of the day, Punjab crushed Islamabad by 20-1 while in final of the day, Sindh and WAPDA played a well-contested match. PNF secretary Mudassar Arain was chief guest on the second day of the event. On the occasion, he said: “The participation of Khyber PK, FATA and Balochistan girls in the event will help boost the game in those areas. Such events encourage the girls and provide them opportunities to not only groom themselves but also exhibit their prowess at national level.
Today (Wednesday) pool matches will be played while tomorrow (Thursday) which will be the concluding day of the event, the semi-finals and finals will be played. Punjab Olympic Association president Syed Shahid Ali will be chief guest at the concluding ceremony. The Punjab Netball Association has made all out efforts to organise the event in a befitting manner.”
