It’s going to be an interesting clash. Hrithik Roshan-Farhan Akhtar starrer, ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’, is competing in the Best Film category at the Asian Film Awards with Hollywood star Christian Bale’s ‘The Flowers Of War’, among other films that garnered acclaim last year.
Besides competing in the Best Film category, ZNMD will also vie for trophies in other categories such as Best Production Design and Best Editor. The film’s co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani, while confirming the news, calls it “exciting”. “It’s very satisfying to see that after doing so well at the box-office in India, our film is getting critical acclaim alongside other great films,” says Sidhwani. Farhan’s sister Zoya directed the film that has already lapped up multiple trophies at Filmfare, Apsara and Zee Cine Awards. Asian Film Awards also has movies like Japan’s ‘Postcard’ and Taiwan’s ‘Warriors of the Rainbow’.
Besides being the Chinese entry for Best Foreign Language Film at this year’s Oscars, ‘The Flowers of War’ also received a nomination for the 69th Golden Globe Awards. While ‘Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara’ is about a road trip taken by three friends, played by Hrithik, Farhan and Abhay Deol, ‘The Flowers of War’ is a Chinese historical drama. It is set in 1937, Nanjing, China, at the time of the second Sino-Japanese War. Vidya Balan is also competing in the Best Actress category for her act in ‘The Dirty Picture’. Other Indian nominations include Ritesh Aggarwal in the Best Visual Effects category for ‘RA.One’, while AR Rahman is up for the Best Composer trophy for ‘Rockstar’.
