The Holy Quran is the book of guidance and light for all human beings which guides us about the world hereafter, so you better read it, ponder over it, understand it, and finally apply it in your life Vice-Chancellor Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) Prof Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi said this during his address at an inaugural session of 6th International Mehfil-i-Husn-e-Qir’at arranged by the faculty of social sciences and humanities in connection with Eid Milad-un-Nabi.
Dr Sangi said apart from being a neighbour, Iran is the only country with which Pakistan has brotherly relations based on cultural, ethnic, and spiritual links. He said both the countries had profound relationship and Iran was the first country who had recognised Pakistan upon its emergence as an independent country in August 1947.
Dr Sangi said, “We should try our level best to promote tolerance and harmony among the nation to bring stability in the country. We should adopt the Islamic values of love, peace and brotherhood.” Dr Sangi said the life of Holy Prophet (PBUH) was a best role model for all the Muslims to follow as he was the best example of behaviour of tolerance, morality and forgiveness. He said they are believers of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) to whom Allah Almighty bestowed the title of “Rehmatul-lil-Alamin”.
He said the Holy Prophet (PBUH) gave us the teachings of love, kindness, tolerance and patience and by following this, they can get rid of the problems and can attain success in this world and the hereafter.
On the occasion, Prof Dr Ali Asghar Cheshti, Dean Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, said the Holy Prophet stood as an example for the entire human kind and all the Muslims should be proud of being his Ummah. He told the gathering to follow the examples and principles of Holy Prophet (PBUH) because it would not only give them peace of mind but also make their life and society full of mutual love, unity and tolerance.
In his welcome address, Prof Dr Abdul Hafiz, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, highlighted the bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Iran.
The 6th International Mehfile Husn-e-Qir’at was arranged in collaboration with Abdul Basit Mujahid and Abdul Wadood. On the occasion, a unique and heartwarming performance was presented by a four-member Iranian group in which he collectively recited some verses from different chapters of the Holy Quran besides the famous Qaseeda Burda Sharif (Na’at) and Asma-ul-Hasna (Names of Allah Almighty).
At the end, Dean Faculty of Arabic and Islamic Studies, Prof Dr Ali Asghar Cheshti prayed for peace, progress and prosperity of the nation and freedom of occupied Kashmir and Palestine.
