Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani said the students of Pakistani origin living abroad were the ambassadors of their country and urged them do their best in bringing good name to the motherland.
Addressing a function here at the Pakistan Education Centre, Gilani said the students were the asset of a nation and expressed the belief that if given proper educational environment, they would bring laurels to the country in all fields.
Gilani announced US 100,000 dollars for the centre that was catering to educational needs of 3000 students. He called upon the students, to work hard and focus on achieving education to ensure a bright future for Pakistan.
He noted that students who had got education from the Pakistan Centre were serving in different fields and were participating in the development and progress of Qatar.
Prime Minister Gilani said the young generation had high stakes in the country’s future and could be regarded as the future leaders. He said the father of the nation Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah had urged the young generation to work tirelessly and concentrate on their education so that they could serve the nation and the Ummah by being good
citizens, and good doctors, scientists and engineers.
He expressed his pleasure over the efforts made by the institution for inculcating amongst the students the love for their motherland and an identity in Qatar. He appreciated the students for bringing a good name to the country
and for winning top positions in the annual examinations conducted by the Federal Board of Education.
He described the school as a mini-Pakistan which was catering to the basic right of education for the students of expatriate Pakistani community. He was also appreciative of the government of Qatar for its “open-hearted support” to the educational institute.
Prime Minister Gilani said the measures taken by the government of Qatar for spread of education have been acknowledged by the world and Doha’s education city has attained international recognition. He asked the Pakistani students and teachers to do all within their means to help their host country Qatar in this regard.
Prime Minister Gilani also lauded the fact that the expatriate community in Qatar had risen above petty differences and had nothing to do with political, religious, sectarian and linguistic divides.Gilani urged the students to treat Qatar as their second home and to abide by its laws, rules and regulations and cultural norms.
Later, the Prime Minister distributed prizes among the distinguished students.The event was attended by Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Petroleum and Natural Resources Dr Asim Hussain, Minister for Technical and Vocational Education Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Member of the National Assembly Munir Aurakzai and Pakistan’s ambassador to Qatar Muhammad Sarfraz Ahmed Khanzada.
