The fifth meeting of a three-member Judicial Commission constituted by Supreme Court to probe memogate will be held on Thursday in Islamabad High Court.
Commission chairman, Chief Justice of Baluchistan High Court, Qazi Issa would preside over the meeting while other two members are Chief Justice of Sindh High Court Musheer Alam and Chief Justice of Islamabad High Court Iqbal Hameed-ur-Rehman.
During the proceedings of the commission, Akram Sheikh counsel of Mansoor Ijaz, would tell the court that his client would not be appearing before the court in Pakistan due to security problems.
The main character of memogate, Mansoor Ijaz, through his lawyer Akram Sheikh, has given an application to the commission for recording his statement abroad. The Commission would hear the arguments on the application.
Akram Sheikh also submitted the reply in response to the writ filed by former ambassador Hussain Haqqani to the commission on Wednesday.
In the reply, it is pleaded that the objective of the formation of the commission is to bring the facts to book, so confiscating the right of Mansoor Ijaz to record his statement would not be unjust only but also the violation of Supreme Court’s orders. “The commission could not fulfill its mandate in befitting manner without recoding the statement of Mansoor Ijaz”, the application added.
