Investigators of Crime Investigation Agency (CIA), who are responsible for nabbing terrorists or hardened criminals, have begun harassing individuals involved in matrimonial disputes. Zeeshan Kaleem a 34-year old resident of Lytton Road, disclosed this while talking to Pakistan Today.
Zeeshan, while describing his 10 hour long detention in the illegal custody of CIA Model Town Police, said that he had a matrimonial dispute with his wife Faiza Zeeshan, who was staying at her uncle’s house located in Garhi Shahu. He said that his wife filed a writ petition against him in court for the custody of their children, but the court granted him the custody of his two sons while granting the custody of their daughter to his wife.
“My wife and I, decided to have a meeting on a daily basis at any neutral place in order to keep the children connected to each other. We were meeting at Lawrence Garden located on The Mall Road”, said Zeeshan. Last Wednesday he received a call from Faiza for the aforesaid meeting and she reached family hospital located close to Zeeshan’s house in order to pick him and his sons. “As I came out of Faiza’s car at the main gate of Lawrence Garden, a police van approached me. I saw two men in uniform and six men in plain clothes coming out of the van. The said men approached me asking for identification and upon identifying myself as Zeeshan, bundled me up, handcuffed me and put me in the police van”, said Zeeshan.
Zeeshan was quite shocked and demanded the police to inform him what he had done. A certain policeman, who did not introduce himself, informed him that he was being detained on account of a murder. “The leader of the police party introduced himself as Javed Butt, an ASI of CIA Model Town,” said Zeeshan.
He was shifted to CIA Model Town at about 5:30 pm on Wednesday where the aforesaid officials kept Zeeshan detained till 2 am. Zeeshan claimed that one official of CIA Model Town under the pretence of interrogation subjected him to physical torture while abusing him as well, in the name of interrogations.
During custody, different policemen questioned him including a senior investigator, who was being referred to as “Khan Sahab” by his colleagues. Zeeshan said that Mr Khan ordered his juniors including ASI Javed Butt to release him but ASI Javed, who was the mastermind of all the happening refused to release him saying that he will present him before DSP Atif Hayyat and will release him with the orders of the DSP.
The victim claimed that during investigation ASI Javed started insisting him for getting the dispute settled with my wife. At that moment, the victim realised that he was being subjected to torture and harassment on account of taking the dispute between him and his wife to court.
“ASI Javed Butt threatened me with dire consequences if I did not hand over my sons to their mother Faiza”, said Zeeshan adding that finally at about 11:30 pm the ASI allowed him to answer his cell phone that was ringing since he had gone missing.
At the other end, Zeeshan’s family quite perturbed by his absence decided to register a kidnapping case against him and in that regard he received a call from SHO Civil Lines, Abid Rasheed, who demanded him to disclose his location otherwise he would register a case of abduction. The detaining officer, ASI Javed snatched the phone from Zeeshan and talked to the SHO informing the latter that the victim had been picked for his involvement in a murder case and requested the SHO to not register an FIR for abduction under Zeeshan’s name.
He said that his brother Usman Kaleem along with his cousins reached CIA Model Town with the instructions of SHO Abid Rasheed but officials of CIA released him at about 2pm after his wife Faiza reached CIA Model Town along with her family lawyer Rana Jawad Ahmed. Usman Kaleem, brother of the victim said that since Zeeshan’s wife had connections with the ASI in question, therefore using their influence his brothers wife staged the entire episode with connivance of the Model Town Police.
Despite the fact that the matter was in the knowledge of SP CIA Umer Virak and DSP CIA Model Town Atif Hayyat, no one has taken any action against officials of CIA Model Town for misusing their powers and illegally detaining an innocent man. The scribe tried to contact DSP CIA Model Town Atif Hayyat for his point of view on his cell phone, but he did not respond after being made privy to the question regarding the illegal detention of Zeeshan by CIA Model Town.
