The Punjab Young Doctors Association (YDA) threatened to set up medical camps on the road outside the Punjab Institute of Cardiology if the government did not restore the PIC medical superintendent and CEO, Pakistan Today learnt. The Punjab government had dismissed the PIC MS Dr Salim Jaffar and CEO Professor Azhar along with a score of other administrative officials and doctors following the spurious medicines incident during which resulted in the deaths of a number of heart patients. The YDA had reacted to the replacement of the hospital’s officials and announced a strike in the OPD’s of all the city hospitals.
