Senior Civil Judge Shahrukh Anjumand on Tuesday sent the prime minister’s ex-media coordinator Khurram Rasool to jail after four-day physical remand. On Tuesday, the District Court Judge resumed hearing of the fraud case filed against Khurram by FIA on the complaint of Sohail Rabbani for cheque dishonour and defrauding under Sections 481 and 420. In his complaint, Rabbani submitted that Khurram Rasool had got a fake account opened in the name of Trading Corporation Pakistan (TCP) and he had given 71 million to Khurram for getting sugar quota. “But he (Khurram) could not allocate sugar quota for me due to which Khurram gave me a fake cheque of Rs 71 million,” he stated in his application.
However, FIA also presented a medical report of Khurram Rasool as in the last hearing Khurram had alleged that FIA team had tortured him mentally and physically during the investigation despite the fact he ‘willingly’ surrendered to police. The condition of Khurram Rasool was stated to be stable in the report. However, the court sent Khurram Rasool to jail while FIA will continue investigation in the fraud cases registered against him.
