Senate elections will be held according to schedule and general elections will also be held this year, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said on Monday. He was talking to journalists. Fazl said that those people, who had boycotted the 2008 general elections, should not create a hurdle in democracy’s path. The JUI-F chief said that the MMA’s revival was possible without the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) but he will try to persuade the party in this regard. Fazl said that horse-trading could be avoided in the Senate elections if all political parties agreed to seat adjustments. He denied playing the role of a messenger between the PPP and PML-N. The JUI-F chief welcomed the Doha dialogue for regional stability.
