The Pakistan 7s national team has been invited to take part in the HSBC Asian Rugby 7s Series in Bangkok, Thailand.
The tournament is organized by the Asian rugby football union under the auspices of the IRB, informed by Sec Gen Pakistan Rugby union Arif Saeed. He added further the Thailand Leg is part of HSBC Asian Sevens Series that formally kicked off last year this is Asian rugby’s newest elite competition, the HSBC Asian Sevens Series, features four tournaments in Shanghai, Borneo, Thailand and India.
HSBC’s title sponsorship of the Asian Sevens Series runs from 2011 to 2013 with the number of ranking tournaments rising from two this year to three in 2012 and four by 2013. Arif Saeed explained 7s rugby is similar to the T20 of cricket. Last year’s inclusion of Rugby 7s in the Olympic Games in 2016 has played a part in this spread of the game. The other teams taking part in the tournament are Hong Kong, Japan, UAE, Laos, Pakistan and Philippines have a lot more experience in rugby than Pakistan. But it is going to give the Pakistani boys some great experience.
