Tim Anderson, ICC Global Development Manager, sees great success with regards to the development of the Afghanistan cricket with the support of the Pakistan Cricket Board. Talking to journalists here at the Dubai Stadium, Tim said that the PCB has done great things by arranging the development of the Afghan cricketers and with that support they would be able to stake claim to top honours in the associate members’ T20 competition starting next week at Sharjah. He further said that the ICC is developing cricket culture in countries where cricket is not the first priority game. “The countries with strong expatriates are of great help in developing the game there and even in Ireland, where facilities are of not that level, have now competed at international level.
“We are having tight control over funding in the associate countries and getting back information so that the funds are not used in inappropriate places,” he maintained. He further stated that UAE, Nepal, Scotland and more surprisingly Papua New Guinea are some of the rapidly upcoming cricket nations. Tim said that the ICC takes UAS and China in the same breath. “UAS has the cricket culture but China does not have such culture but have definite potential. And cricket in multi-sports events like Olympics or Commonwealth Games is a good thing to happen while Test playing nations are already very helpful in the development of the game in associate countries.
Good Job done by PCB and afghanistan do need more ODI matches against Top 10 team, where they can improve.
