Banned outfits gaining ground again: BBC

The intelligence agencies of Pakistan have warned its government of their apprehensions regarding various indigenous banned religious organisations becoming operational once again with the help of financial assistance they are getting in local and foreign currencies from both Pakistan and abroad, the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC)’s Urdu service claimed in a report on Friday. It said all these organisations had earlier been weakened by the operations of security forces and the law enforcement agencies. BBC Urdu cited a secret report that said several banned Islamist organisations were opening new bank accounts with different fake names, and that these accounts were being opened in both Pakistani and foreign banks. Apart from organisations banned for their involvement in incidents of extremism, they also include others which apparently were working for social welfare. Intelligence agencies had warned that transferring amounts into those accounts could liven up the organisations once again, said the report.
