Jeay Sindh Tehreek (JST) announced on Friday that it is organising a Million March on March 18 in Karachi against “slavery of Sindh”.
Addressing the participants of a press conference at the Karachi Press Club, JST President Dr Safdar Sarki said millions of Sindh’s people are expected to participate in the protest march to rid the province of slavery.
Flanked by JST’s Habib Jatoi, Rehman Jatoi and Gada Hussain Kango, Sarki said Sindh earns Rs 2 trillion every year and manages to run the whole country with this huge amount.
However, he continued, the people of Sindh are still living in poverty and are enduring hunger and lawlessness. “They have been made into slaves on their own land,” he added.
“People who arrived in Sindh from other provinces and countries are publicly demanding division of the province. Unfortunately, their demands are being supported by the so-called constitutional provisions and law. Afflictions have been imposed on the Sindhi people in the name of federation and Islam.”
Sarki said Sindhis have been busy for the past 64 years trying to survive. “The parliament, constitution, and military and civil governments have failed to ensure the rights and interests of Sindhis, Bengalis and Baloch.” He said through the Million March, the JST wants to draw attention of the civilised nations and the United Nations towards the plight of the Sindhis.
