The reconstruction of the Korangi Causeway would complete next month, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) Administrator Muhammad Hussain Syed said on Friday.
He was inspecting various under under-construction roads in Korangi and Landhi area along with the Technical Services Director General Altaf G Memon, Transport and Communication Senior Director Ateeq Baig and East Chief Engineer Mehmood Hussain Baloch.
On the occasion, the administrator directed that the reconstruction work of the Korangi Causeway and Korangi Crossing Intersection should be completed within the scheduled time.
In a briefing, he was informed that the Korangi Causeway, which is being renovated at a cost of a cost of Rs 8.7 million, is an important road and it would be made 18 feet wide.
The administrator said that the road was not given any attention in past, despite many accidents that happened every month there.
“Reflectors will be fixed in the centre of the road for the convenience of commuters,” he added.
While visiting the Korangi Crossing Intersection, he said the intersection’s new design would cost Rs 20 million.
Korangi Crossing will be made signal-free to ensure smooth flow of traffic. Street and floodlights would also be installed at the Korangi Causeway and Korangi Crossing Intersection during the current financial year.
Syed also visited Korangi 15,000 and 6,000 roads where he inspected carpeting work being carried out by the KMC at a cost of Rs 100 million.
