Five people, including a policeman, were killed and two others injured in separate acts of violence in various towns of Balochistan on Thursday.
Levies Force officials said unidentified armed men opened indiscriminate fire in Mashkail town of Washuk district, 700kms southwest of Quetta. As a result, three people were killed on the spot. Local administration moved the victims to hospital where they were identified as Kulia, his son Shah Dost and Hamza.
Officials said the reason behind the triple murder was old enmity, saying the father and son were the main targets of the attack. In another incident, a policeman was killed by the firing of bandits in Hub industrial town of Balochistan. Police said a government employee was carrying salaries for government employees in Hub when bandits intercepted him near Civic Center and tried to snatch the money from him, However, police reached the site just as the bandits were in the middle of thr robbery attempt, forcing the criminals to open fire. Resultantly, a policeman was killed and the bandits fled the scene.
In another incident, a businessman was killed and two others injured in Khuzdar, 300kms away from Quetta. Police said Haji Ramzan Zehri, renowned businessman of Khuzdar, was standing outside his shop near Umar Farooq Chowk along with two other men when two armed men on a motorbike sprayed a volley of bullets on them. As a result, all three received critical wounds and were rushed to a hospital, however, Zehri succumbed to his injuries. Police said a case had been registered. Moreover, unidentified people shot dead a man in Tambu tehsil of Naseerabad district. The deceased was identified as Sikandar Uzbak, the alleged killer of Excise Inspector Rajab Umrani. Umrani had been found dead in his vehicle on Wednesday night and his guard, Sikandar, had been missing. Umrani was a cousin of provincial minister and PPP Balochistan President Mir Sadiq Umrani. Police have registered a case into the killing and started investigation.
