The Pakistan Cricket Board has appointed former IG Police Tariq Pervaiz as Director Security and Vigilance of the board.
His immediate assignment would be to keep the team under security scan and keep unwanted and suspicious persons away from the team. He would soon be joining the team in Dubai.
It’s the second high profile appointment made by PCB chairman Zaka Ashraf after Sajid Hameed who was named Director Coordination.
The need of security and vigilance official arouse after Salman Butt, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir were caught in spot-fixing. The PCB chief after his appointment last month announced to have a separate wing for security, vigilance and coordination and these appointment are part of that announcement. It has also been learnt that an evaluation committee of the PCB will determine which person is performing what duties in the board and then opt for fresh appointments according to the status of the job.
