An oath-taking ceremony of the newly-elected office-bearers of Officers Welfare Association (OWA) of Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) was held here on Thursday at the University’s Auditorium.
AIOU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Nazir Ahmed Sangi administered oath to the newly-elected office-bearers including Mukhtiar Hussain Talpur, Syed Zia-ul-Hasnain, Abdul Wadood, Malik Tauqir Ahmad Khan, and Mazhar Hassan Saeedi as president, vice president, general secretary, joint secretary and finance secretary respectively.
Dr Sangi congratulated them and assured that the varsity administration would exploit all necessary resources to expedite development and welfare projects for the employees. He emphasised that employees, academicians and management of the university should work together for development and expansion of the institution.
Dr Sangi assured the OWA that their genuine demands would be addressed at the earliest. He said preliminary work for establishment of AIOU Foundation had been completed which would be launched soon. He said he had already approved a comprehensive scheme for loans and advances for low-paid employees of the university for purchasing of cycles, sewing machines, computers and laptops.
All the newly-elected office-bearers also expressed their views at the ceremony.
