Pakistan captain Misbahul Haq has warned his charges of complacency and urged them to complete the historic whitewash of England when the two sides meet here at the Dubai Stadium in the final Test of the three-match rubber on Friday. Talking to Pakistan Today, Misbah said that it was a record never achieved by any team and as a captain he would like his team to bring this record to Pakistan’s lap. Pakistan has already taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series by beating the world number one side in the world England at Dubai and later at Abu Dhabi.
And now with the third Test hours away, Misbah believes that it is the best opportunity for Pakistan. “There has never been such an opportunity to get that feat and if things went right we are sure to achieve what has never been achieved before,” he added. “It’s a new ball game and we will be concentrating on the game. All that matters is performance and the positive frame of mind is what we need to adopt. It’s a good chance and we should not let it slip,” said Misbah.
Misbah further said that they do not take any team lightly. “We even take lowly rated team very seriously and England are the number one side in the world and we cannot even think of complacency creeping in,” he maintained. Talking about the wicket, Misbah said that it looked much different from the one they played on in the first Test. With the wicket carrying some pace, there are chances that Junaid Khan might be rested and Wahab Riaz would get a go on the Poms. However, certain sources close to the team said that the likely chance is that they would not break the winning combination and final line-up would be decided in the morning of the match. Similarly England might also make one or two changes in the side but the final decision has been adjourned for Friday morning.
Talking to journalists, England captain Andrew Strauss said that his team has learnt their lessons from the two back to back defeats. “We need to win the third Test to keep the honour even before entering into the ODi series,” he added. He further pointed out that although they had lost the series, the win in the third Test would be a face-saving thing for them.
