After the renovation and the widening of the Canal Bank Road a speed limit has been set on the tempting highway and the Traffic Department has finally installed speed guns on the Canal Bank to bar over speeding.
It looks like the Traffic Department has finally decided to implement speed restriction in the metropolis as two speed guns have been positioned on the Canal Bank Road near the Doctor’s Hospital underpass.
According to the traffic wardens deployed to operate the speed guns, the speed guns are to be installed all along the canal road. “This is the initial step and the Traffic Department has planned to position the speed guns on other parts of the canal too,” he said. He said the road had now widened and there was a great chance of youngsters racing along the side of the canal.
He said coordinating traffic wardens had been positioned at a distance from the speed gun to stop the speed limit violator. Amongst the problem being faced by the traffic wardens while implementing speed limit on the Canal Bank Road, the warden said over speeding cars were a bit hard to stop as they usually were on the extreme right side of the road. “In that case a wireless is made to wardens standing at the next junction who finally makes sure that the car is stopped,” said the warden.
It would be important to mention here that speed guns were placed on Main Boulevard Gulberg, DHA and on Ring Road before but the speed limit was only implemented on the Ring Road.
