Two persons have been injured in cylinder explosions at a re-filling shop here on Wednesday in Sector G/12. Some five cylinders exploded at Hafiz Gas Point near at Hamza Chowk in Mara Abadi. The blasts caused due to fire which erupted after short circuiting, eyewitnesses and police said. The area falls in the jurisdiction of Ramna Police Station. A worker, Majid Mahmood, and owner of the shop, Abid, suffered injuries during the incident. However, they are reportedly in stable condition.
Two other shops were also badly damaged in the explosions. The incident sparked panic and fear in the neighbourhood, however, heavy contingent of police and Bomb Disposal Squad officials reached the scene to control the situation.
